Norfolk
England boasts some of the most picturesque waterways, with rich rivers flowing through verdant meadows. The presence of the Norfolk Hawker and the Swallowtail Butterfly further entices visitors. Despite my limited experience, my initial visit exceeded my expectations.
I could easily spend a week exploring the meticulously bordered narrow lanes, but I anticipate spending most of my time in Upton Broad or Strumpshaw Fen.
While I am certain there are numerous other captivating sites that offer such a rich tapestry of diversity, these are the ones that currently stand out to me.

Hickling Broad

Hickling Broad is a prime habitat for the Swallowtail Butterfly, but, as is often the case with broads, it is also well-stocked with dragonflies. In my honest opinion, the cost of admission is excessive, and there are numerous other locations where you can find your target species without incurring any charges.

Strumpshaw Fen also incurs an admission fee, but the rewards should be justified given a sunny day devoid of wind.
The site boasts a diverse range of suitable habitats, including wooded glades teeming with feeder insects, accessible narrow channels providing close views of patrolling Green-eyed Hawks, and shelted tracks offering further feeding and roosting opportunities.

The final destination of my brief excursion to Norfolk presented the sole opportunity to capture a photograph of the Norfolk Hawker during the weekend, making it a cherished memory. The region boasts an abundance of fen habitats, encompassing narrow channels, ponds, lakes, clearings, and wetlands. This diverse landscape offers a plethora of photographic opportunities.
