The River Thames between Goring and Pangbourne are reliable places to witness the emergence of the Common Club-tail Dragonfly. Park at Beale Park and walk east through the gate near the visitor centre to access the river bank. I find it best to walk south along the shore as far as the lay-by (now closed) or north as far as the closed gate, checking the grass and other undergrowth at the waters edge.
