Itchen Valley Country Park is a popular nature reserve along the banks of the River Itchen (where else!)Besides being a prime spot for Banded Demoiselles, the surrounding water-meadows are also home to an isolated colony of the Southern Damselfly outside of the New Forest.

In common with most 'Country Parks', prepare to have your peace shattered by screaming kids enjoying what constitutes 'countryside' without having to stray to far away from home. Thankfully once you cross the river and enter the water meadows an element of peace is restored, although the constant drone from the airport and nearby motorway remind you where you are.

The meadows themselves and the ditches provide the best odo activty..
